Betting goes high-tech with Ascot lounge28 June 2010
LCI Productions recently designed and installed an elaborate AV solution for the Betfair Lounge ahead of the prestigious Royal Ascot horseracing event. A new approach to on-course betting revolving around the Betfair website, the permanent lounge at Ascot Racecourse allows new users to find out how the website works, while key account holders can enjoy discreet hospitality with fast connectivity.
LCI Productions produced a 3D visualisation proposal in December 2009 and was immediately commissioned to produce a detailed design in consultation with Betfair. On-site installation began in April and was completed in time for a ‘soft’ opening on 8 May.
A total of six Apple iMac terminals provide access to Betfair.com. The new facility also features Samsung display screens (SM460UX2, SM650MP, SM320MX2), LCI video and digital signage servers, AV Stumpfl Wings Platinum and Iseo Control software, 3M M170 touch-screens, Amino IP TV decoders, and Extron and Kramer switching technology. An extensive lighting specification is based around Lutron GRAFIK Eye and HomeWorks control systems and a total of 21 Alpha UA1038NW/DA/M LED fixtures.
The audio and video systems are entirely integrated and re-configurable from fixed touchscreen control surfaces and a wireless iPad.
In addition to the technical infrastructure, LCI designed and supplied design finishes, branded carpet and furniture.
LCI’s Luke R. Bennett told IE: "The response from Betfair and Ascot Racecourse was overwhelmingly positive. Betfair’s customers also reacted well to the new facility. The Lounge provided punters [with] an opportunity to check their online account, place bets and watch sports in comfort."
