Barco receives $11 million order from Creative Technology

Barco LiveDots has announced a purchase agreement worth $US 11 million with Creative Technology, who rent LED products to the exhibition, broadcast and events markets.

Barco says that Creative Technology was closely involved in the development of Barco’s new 5mm LED tile, based on the existing C-series platform.

“After extensive research we have selected Barco as the most suitable partner for the development of our future indoor LED range,” said Dave Crump, CEO of Creative Technology Europe & Middle East. “Barco’s revamped product portfolio, international support and service outweighed competitive offerings. We have every confidence in the LiveDots team and look forward to continuing our partnership with the Barco group.”

“The C-5 is a new 5.5 mm pitch black face indoor display. It offers a 10% resolution premium over established 6 mm products on the market,” said Carl Rijsbrack, CMO of Barco LiveDots (pictured). “Other significant technical features include a flown weight of less than 40 kg per m², integral concave and convex curving, no fans (resulting in silent operation) and most importantly Barco’s network-to-network interface allowing full integration with the DX-700 processing unit. We will showcase the C-5 display for the first time at ISE, taking place from 31 January until 2 February 2012 at the Amsterdam RAI.”
