Barco LiveDots feature in New York digital signage19 October 2012
In New York, 510,000 people per day pass Manhattan’s busiest intersection – which now features a 3,400 square foot Barco LiveDots black-face LED display
The installation – executed in partnership with Baltimore-based experiential design firm The Barnycz Group – is on Vornado Realty Trust’s highly trafficked location within Penn Plaza.
The new billboard, directly across from Penn Station, combines three high- resolution panels into one powerful advertisement canvas, enabling advertisers to launch highly creative and eye-catching campaigns. The three panels can be leased as one advertising surface by a single client or each can be contracted separately by different companies. The display solution, comprising 532 TF10 tiles with specially designed corner tiles and front-service mechanics, totals more than three million pixels. It is driven by Barco’s image processor, the DX-700, and runs Barco LiveDots’ network-based RMS software, featuring proprietary sensor technology which enables remote management of the entire display.
With its 10.2 mm pixel pitch and 6,500 nits, Barco says that the TF10 LED tile offers a new standard for high-resolution outdoor displays that is said to provide 20% higher contrast than alternative LED solutions. The TF10 is also claimed to consume 20% less power than other displays.
