Barco is partner at film festival18 February 2011
Barco has announced that it is an official partner of the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, one of the world’s leading film festivals, taking place from 10 – 20 February. This year’s edition features more than 80 digital screenings, a record number in the history of the Berlinale.
Every year, around 20,000 professional attendees including press and filmmakers – from over 100 countries – gather in Germany’s exciting capital for one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world: the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). Additionally some 300,000 tickets are sold to the public. Barco has been the festival’s exclusive digital cinema projection partner since 2006, playing a major role in the increased importance of digital screenings in the festival program.
“We are glad to partner with Barco again for this year’s edition,” said Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick. “The Berlinale is an internationally acclaimed film festival, and we need to keep up our reputation. A 10-day festival is technically challenging for both crew and equipment. But Barco has supported us throughout the five previous editions, and we know they will do an excellent job – round the clock – for all 10 days.”
“Barco is proud to be an official partner – and exclusive digital cinema projector supplier – for the Berlinale,” said Wim Buyens, vice president for Barco’s digital cinema business. “One of the largest publicly attended film festival in the world, the Berlinale is known for its diverse movie scheduling, ranging from bigger US movies to international European art films. Our digital cinema projectors ensure the highest image quality possible on screen, so that the audience and the festival jury can see all the movies exactly the way the director intended.”
The Berlin International Film Festival takes place from 10 – 20 February 2011 in cinemas throughout Berlin. Barco digital cinema projectors are in action at the Berlinale-Palast, Urania, CinemaxX 10, Delphi Filmpalast, CineStar 5, Friedrichstadtpalast, Kino im Martin Gropius Bau and Haus der Kulturen der Welt Auditorium.
