Trio of new conferencing products and solutions from Polycom as it celebrates 25th birthday

New additions Trio 8500, Trio 8800 and VoxBox are “perfect" communication tools for mid-sized conference rooms

New additions: Trio 8500, Trio 8800 and VoxBox are “perfect” communication tools for mid-sized conference rooms

AV manufacturer Polycom has added three new solutions including a brand new device, which it claims once again, sets the standard in conference call excellence.

The line up, which includes the Polycom Trio 8500, Polycom Trio 8800 and Polycom VoxBox were announced almost exactly 25 years since the release of its ‘iconic’ three legged Polycom SoundStation – a device, which went on to sell ‘millions of units’, with customers ranging from Fortune 1000 companies, to world leaders. It even appeared on The Simpsons.

“We like to think that the work we’ve done to change communications in the office has had an impact not too different from the way the iPhone has changed our expectations of mobile phones,” commented Mindi Grissom, product marketing manager at Polycom.

8500

The brand new “future proof” Polycom Trio 8500 conferencing phone, available today, continues that three-legged design – and has been described by Polycom as the “perfect communication tool for mid-sized conference rooms.”

Standout features on the device include HD voice audio quality, Polycom NoiseBlock and multi-line registration – expandable to include video and content sharing in the future. The 8500 also includes a full colour touch screen interface and Microsoft Exchange calendar integration.

Video and content sharing support for the Polycom is expected to be added later in the year and provide business-quality video conferencing and content sharing for huddle spaces and mid-sized rooms.

“For a quarter century, businesses have known to look for Polycom’s visually distinctive phones and have counted on them to provide superior and unparalleled call quality,” said Mary McDowell, CEO of Polycom. “The new 8500 is the latest in our line of renowned conference phones, designed for the 21st century workplace with a modern look and crystal clear audio quality.”

8800

Polycom has also introduce a number of new features to the Polycom Trio™ 8800, the company’s fastest selling conference phone to date, it claims.

The 8800 now allows participants to connect using your Apple AirPlay or Miracast certified devices for wireless flexibility. Later this year, it will also support enterprise-class motorised pan-tilt-zoom (MPTZ) cameras that offer a broader degree of visibility for high-definition collaboration experience in larger conference rooms.

Both Trio solutions will support multi-line registration, allowing businesses to easily migrate between open SIP environments, Skype for Business environments, or both and work with other cloud-based audio and video platforms, including Zoom, BlueJeans, Cisco, Avaya and others.

VoxBox

Finally, Polycom is also introducing a new audio solution for team and personal spaces, such as huddle rooms, with the new Polycom VoxBox an ultra-compact speaker phone that allows customers to experience Polycom’s HD Voice technology anywhere, anytime and with any device.

Polycom described VoxBox as combining a modern, portable design with Bluetooth wireless pairing and USB connectivity and “packs it” with Polycom HD Voice quality.

The device also features NoiseBlock technology, which automatically mutes the microphone when you stop speaking, silencing noises that can interrupt the conversation.

It will be available in select areas starting in Q4 2017.
