The AV User Group is to hold its annual regional members meeting on January 17th during the PLASA Focus show in Glasgow.

The meeting will take place at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), on the first day of the PLASA event, kicking off at 12:30. After the meeting, there will be a networking event with drinks and catering, both are free of charge for members.

The meeting will feature informative presentations from Sony, Analog Way, Shure, and the latest news from AVIXA (which includes a market trend report) combined with educational sessions on meeting room acoustics and the Display Image Size standard this promises to be an excellent event.

“If you are an end user of audio visual equipment, regardless of market sector, and would like the opportunity to network with your peers and discuss common challenges as well as benefiting from the educational and informative agenda, then this is for you,” the AVUG said in a statement.

All welcome

The meeting is open to AVUG members, as well as new ones registered before the event. New members can sign up here. Membership is free to qualifying AV professionals.

“Following on from the successful inaugural regional meeting in January 2017 we wanted to build on this and expand regional meetings to provide regular value through our events for UK members outside of London,” added Kevin McLoughlin, AVUG Group management committee. “With the recent changes within the group structure in place we are ready to return to Glasgow in 2018 and we encourage existing members and any AV/IT managers, senior technicians and end users in the region to sign up to the group and take advantage of this informative day of seminars and networking. The response from our sponsors has been very positive and it is sure to be an event where knowledge and information is exchanged by representatives across the whole spectrum of the AV industry.

“We have plans to take this regional model to other cities in the UK and the Republic of Ireland later in 2018 and beyond as part of the overall global strategy of group expansion.”

Now in its 20th year, the AV User Group (AVUG) has become a globally recognised not for profit organisation, devoted exclusively to supporting AV end user professionals.

Its purpose is to provide an independent, supplier agnostic forum for end users of AV equipment to learn from their peers and industry suppliers by sharing best practice and experiences. The ultimate goal is to promote effective use of audio visual equipment and services to the end user community.

The Group has grown extensively in recent years both locally and internationally, holding meetings in New York and Hong Kong and plans to launch on the US west coast (San Francisco) in 2018.

Those attending the meeting in Glasgow can expect:

  • Completely up-to-date information about the latest Audio Visual products and services in an informal environment
  • Sharing peer group/end user experience and advice
  • The opportunity to comment and sometimes change the road map for AV systems during developmental stage
