AVIXA unveils new membership structure

AVIXA, the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association, has announced it will roll out a new membership structure, designed to enhance growth opportunities for pro AV businesses and individuals.

As part of AVIXA’s three-year strategic plan, a key initiative is restructuring the membership model to increase member value. When developing the improved programme, the association considered many factors, such as various member needs based on location in the world, groups that might consider joining the AV community, and products and services the association currently offers that aren’t being utilised by members. The new membership structure was developed based on feedback from members around the world, AVIXA’s board of directors, the membership committee, and staff throughout the association.

The focus for the new structure is to create greater flexibility, which allows members to have the experience that fits their professional needs. The new structure, which comes into effect in January 2018, will offer three different levels of membership for individuals.

Individual Basic membership is free, and offers free tradeshow access and newsletter subscriptions. Premium membership is available for $99 (regional offices can supply non-US rates); this provides free introductory AV classes, access to AV standards, a 15% discount on education, access to Premium content and to members-only events. The highest level of individual membership is Elite ($399). The education discount here rises to 25%, and access to Elite content is free. Also included is access to all the association’s online and video training. Individual members signed up by the end of 2017 will automatically be transferred to Premium status.

Companies can elect to join as enterprise members, with three levels to choose from including Bronze ($500), Silver ($1,750) and Gold ($4,750), plus an option to create a custom enterprise membership.

The benefits include five, 15 and 50 Elite memberships respectively for team members, and exhibitor discounts on increasing sizes of stands at tradeshows. Silver and Gold members also receive discounts on association market research reports, and can apply for APEx and related advocate programmes. Companies signed up for membership by the end of 2017 will automatically be transferred to Bronze status.

“AVIXA provides a community for audiovisual service providers, live events professionals, manufacturers, and technology managers to come together to move the industry forward,” said Betsy Jaffe, senior vice president, member services, AVIXA. “It’s the association’s mission to provide the resources needed for AV professionals to thrive. The new membership offerings will also bring professionals from related industries into conversations about the industry, so we can educate them on the value AV professionals bring to enhancing AV experiences.”
