AVIXA celebrates another successful ISE – and looks ahead to InfoComm 201816 February 2018
As well as presenting a full programme of professional development sessions, AVIXA used ISE 2018 to present its new identity for the first time at a major European trade show. “What a great week we had at ISE in Amsterdam,” said David Labuskes, CTS, CAE, RCDD (pictured), chief executive officer of AVIXA. ” It was very exciting to unveil our new AVIXA brand to the ISE audience and welcome attendees to our vibrant stand. We kicked off the week with our TIDE Conference and never stopped learning and connecting with the global AV community.”
This was the first European edition of TIDE – which stands for Technology. Ideas. Design. Experience – following its debut at the InfoComm show last year. TIDE Amsterdam drew over 160 attendees. “Delegates at the conference consisted of not only AV Integrators, but a great mix of AV channel members and creative professionals,” said Brad Grimes, senior director of communications at AVIXA.
“TIDE is an opportunity to hear original voices and share new ideas, and the feeling received from attendees is that they found it refreshing to start off such a major technology trade show by thinking outside of the box,” Grimes continued. “People spoke very highly of Daan Roosegaarde’s and Monika Bielskyte’s keynote presentations, which is incredibly gratifying and noteworthy because you could argue those two were among the most thought-provoking, outside-the-box sessions at TIDE Amsterdam. This indicates that even in an industry as innovative as ours, people are still open to and hungry for new ways of thinking creatively.”
The next TIDE will take place in Las Vegas on 5 June, as part of InfoComm 2018. Grimes explained: “The current theme is ‘human-centred design’, which is a process of developing solutions by maintaining a decidedly human perspective every step of the way. It dovetails well with AVIXA’s emphasis on end-user experiences, and how technology for technology’s sake is limited in its ability to drive meaningful engagement and adoption. Human-centered design helps ensure technology solutions that resonate with users and achieve appreciable outcomes.”
