Arup keeping busy in Beijing30 July 2008
At BCIA, Arup undertook structural, mechanical, electrical and public health engineering work, along with acoustic design, fire engineering and other commitments. The terminal – designed by a consortium featuring NACO, Foster + Partners, and Arup – was opened in February after four years in development.
For the National Conference Centre, Arup undertook preliminary design for structural and fire engineering works, while the company’s scope was even greater at the National Aquatics Centre, where Arup provided a full “multi-disciplinary” service encompassing structural, mechanical and electrical, building physics and fire engineering.
Arup was also involved in the preparation of two equestrian venues (in Hong Kong, pictured) and the National Stadium, which will be used to host the opening and closing ceremonies.
Look out for the September print issue of Installation Europe for much more about AV technology and installations at the 2008 Olympic Games.
