November/December 2017

In our special report we look at major projects and how those involved can successfully manage the complexity that accompanies such installations, with lessons from a number of major installs from around the world; following which we take the temperature of the interactive displays market and consider technological developments in that area. We also look at the opportunities and risks of working on heritage and listed buildings.

October 2017

This month we have a special report on projectors, firstly we reveal how the market is responding to the challenge of flat panels, then report on where projection mapping is going. Elsewhere in the issue, we discuss the implications of InfoComm’s rebranding to AVIXA; and examine the increasing trend towards partnering in the unified communications space.

September 2017

Our special report on audio networking looks at the current state of the art and the challenges ahead; we also look at how the AVB/TSN camp views the future. Elsewhere, we look at how AV is increasingly used for storytelling in museums and visitor attractions; and talk to Tim Dobson of VEGA Europe about unified communications.

July/August 2017

In this issue we look closely at digital workplaces, firstly with a report on the digital transformation in the office, then by considering the different approaches organisations are taking to BYOD; in theatre sound we ask whether it is still essential for venues to have a high-end installed sound system. Also Bob Michaels of ZeeVee discusses journeying to the higher end of AV over IP.

June 2017

We have a special report into AV over IP, firstly considering its growing significance and who it stands to benefit; then looking at how it is being implemented across the major verticals; after which David Chiappini of Matrox Graphics talks about the issues around the transition to AVoIP. Also we reveal the growing emphasis being placed on customer engagement in the hospitality sector.

May 2017

We look at how the worlds of AV and broadcast are growing ever closer and the skills integrators need to take advantage of this trend; consider the demands of the new operator-centric model across the control room workspace; and report on the expansion of cloud services into the AV industry. Also K-array’s Alessandro Tatini discusses the company’s distinctive design philosophy.

April 2017

We look at how smart buildings and the Internet of Things are linked; present the potential business cases for virtual, augmented and mixed reality; We also interview Adam Hall CEO Alexander Pietschmann to discuss how the company is attacking new markets; and consider the implications of moving digital signal processing to a central server

March 2017

Ian McMurray looks behind the displays at the players driving digital signage content; We consider whether 3D audio is on the verge of the mainstream; We also interview David Margolin of Kramer about the demands and challenges of the converged AV-IT world, and look at the issues and opportunities in cybersecurity

February 2017

We consider whether drones represent an exciting opportunity for integrators or only have niche appeal for the AV market; Ask end-users in universities how they utilise lecture capture and voting technology; We also interview Justin Kennington about the newly formed SDVoE Alliance and look at the pros and cons of sourcing all elements in an install from a single brand

January 2017

We look at the impact of millenials and whether huddle spaces are good for the AV industry; How can integrators navigate complex AV installs and ensure that projects don’t get derailed? We also talk to Jon Sidwick about InfoComm and his 20-year journey with Maverick; and preview the ISE and Bett shows
