AQ Smart utilises AirPlay for powerful new speaker

The AQ Audio AQ Smart Speaker with Apple AirPlay allows users to ‘liberate’ music stored on iPhones, iPods, iPads, laptops and PCs via wireless connection.

AQ Smart – described as one of the world’s first completely wire-free AirPlay systems – features a spec yielding 24W of power behind two drivers in each enclosure. A proprietary digital amplifier is said to be ‘up to 20 times more efficient’ that typical Class D amps, while bespoke ALLROOM technology radiates sound wave dispersion to every part of a room via two wide-angle disbursement drivers.

Among other features, it is possible to have multiple Smart Speakers around the house or garden all playing the same song. Users simply need to employ the Apple REMOTE App to allow direct adjustment of both volume and the specific speakers required for playback.

Other elements of the strikingly-designed system’s spec include: the capability to deliver stereo sound by using two Smart speakers; a long-life rechargeable battery that offers 30 hours’ playback in Holiday mode (line input) and over 10 hours in AirPlay mode; and an auto power down function that minimises battery wastage.

James Grant, director of AQ Audio, told IE Residential: "The AQ Smart Speaker`s role is to mix the best of AirPlay with the very latest audio technology. Being totally wireless and totally portable the Smart Speaker can be taken all around your house and garden and be controlled direct from your iPhone, iPod or iPad. All your music, BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, games, films, Spotify, SoundCloud – just about all the audio you can stream to your device – can be played directly to the Smart Speaker."
