APG sounding out Beijing club revamp

APG loudspeakers are to be found throughout the Babyface Beijing lounge club following a recent refurbishment undertaken by the venue’s new owner, Chinese entrepreneur Mr Dai.

To help Mr Dai bring about his ambition of a club featuring “the best sound system and the best lighting system available”, he enlisted local audio specialist and APG distributor BVCAM. A subsequent demo convinced the venue owner that APG was the right way to do.

“I realised straight away that this was an excellent system and perfect for Babyface,” he said. “I also consulted some of my peers to ask for their opinions, which merely served to reinforce my own impressions, so it turned out to be a straightforward choice.”

In the main room – where a consistent SPL was among the chief priorities – BVCAM specified six APG SMX15 monitor speakers, six TB218S subs, and DS15s and SUB238s for side-fill.

The venue also hosts a number of VIP spaces available for private hire. The largest of these, the dual-level King Room, featured APG DS12 and DS15 multi-purpose enclosures on the lower level, with DS8s installed upstairs. A further 12 smaller VIP rooms have been equipped with two DS12s and one SUB138P each. Meanwhile, audio coverage in the entrance and throughout the toilet facilities is handled by multiple APG MX1s.

According to BVCAM’s Danny Huen, Mr Dai is delighted with the result and is planning to use APG for his next project.

Xavier Pion, APG sales and marketing director, summed up: “This installation at Babyface with APG systems proves yet again that we made the right choice with BVCAM as our distributor in China. They have done an excellent job on this big project. It’s also a testament to the versatility of SMX15 which is just as well-suited to the requirements of big clubs such as Babyface as it is to the stage. They wanted the best, and it is a great satisfaction that the customer is happy with the result!”
