Allen & Heath DSP system installed at London’s ‘Actors’ Church’7 April 2008
The refurbishment at St. Paul’s – popularly known as ‘The Actors’ Church’ for its connections with the city’s theatrical community – also involved the installation of EM Acoustics speakers and MC² amplifiers (main areas), and JBL speakers (the foyer and vicar’s office).
The Allen & Heath iDR-8 processor enables control of system presets, levels and muting from its front panel or from three remote locations using the company’s PL range of wallplates and controllers. Specifically, the church has been fitted with one 8-channel PL-10 rotary controller, two PL-4 wallplates and two PL-5 handheld remote controllers, plus a PL-10 in the balcony for use by the organist to control overall levels of CD, external mixing console input, two radio microphones and two lectern microphones.
The news that Allen & Heath had been purchased by D&M Holdings emerged on 2 April. An increasingly powerful international player, D&M Holdings is already home to a considerable roster of brands, including Denon, Marantz, Escient, Calrec Audio and D&M Professional.
“We’re adding another dimension to our position in the professional audio marketplace with this acquisition,” said D&M Holdings’ chairman and CEO, Eric C. Evans. “Allen & Heath is a strong brand in the professional live sound performance market and well-suited to benefit from the D&M business platform. Like our other premium brands, Allen & Heath can continue to focus on innovation while D&M provides expanded global market reach and other support. We also see useful tie-ins with Calrec, our live-to-air broadcast console brand, and Denon DJ.”
