4K glue becoming universal

Installation Staff 12 February 2015

Signal and image processing specialist Apantac is moving to 4K for almost all of its products. Its latest Universal Matrix supports 4K and “can mix and match any type of input, from SDI to HDMI, to HDBaseT, and output to

HDBaseT or HDMI, and could be extended over 100m,” explained company president Thomas Tang. Apantac’s new Micro-4K-DP takes in four 3G SDI inputs and converts them to DisplayPort 1.2. It can handle 10-bit and 8-bit, 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 4K video at up to 60p, with auto-detect inputs.

The new IP Multiviewer, which comes in versions enabling from four to 16 views, can decode a wide range of inputs, and supports formats from SD to 1080p. It is aimed at IPTV applications, for monitoring streams, including audio.

Other new products include: a wide range of 4K-capable HDBaseT HDMI extenders and receivers, HDMI and multi-format 6×1 seamless (clean) switches, four HDBaseT HDMI splitters/extenders supporting 4K, and a
4K HDMI 1×2 splitter.
